Replace Unity

sudo apt-get install gnome-panel

Replace Nautilus

sudo apt-get install nemo
xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory application/x-gnome-saved-search
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false
gsettings set org.nemo.desktop show-desktop-icons true

Tweak Tools

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool gconf-editor dconf-tools

Window Buttons

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout ":minimize,maximize,close"
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.overrides button-layout ":minimize,maximize,close"

Fix Preferences

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings overrides '{"Gtk/ShellShowsAppMenu":<0>}'

Customize Login

sudo bash
xhost +SI:localuser:lightdm
su lightdm -s /bin/bash
dconf-editor

com / canocial / unity-greeter

Remove Boot Splash

sudo nano /etc/default/grub
# > GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""
sudo update-grub
